Mullein Tincture

Mullein is one of the most recognisable wild herbs in the world: a tall, silvery-grey plant with soft, velvety leaves and a towering spike of golden-yellow flowers. It has collected a wonderful string of folk names along the way, including Velvet Dock, Flannel Plant, Jacob's Staff and Candlewick Plant. The Romans dipped its dried flower stalks in tallow to burn as torches. Country people used its downy leaves as lamp wicks, and tucked them into their shoes for warmth in winter. Mullein grows wild across Europe and Asia and has made itself at home in many other countries, including South Africa. For generations, it has been one of the best-loved herbs of European folk tradition for the lungs and airways. Herbalists have long valued its soft, soothing leaves, especially in the cold, damp months of the year. Mullein Tincture captures the plant's gentle character in a fast-absorbing 50ml amber-glass spray bottle.
